Top 5 Steps To Secure your Drone Data In the Field
1. SD CARD MANAGEMENT
Incorporate a thorough and considered system of naming and storing SD cards.
SD cards should be password protected where possible to protect data integrity and confidentiality. Data retention schedules and legal requirements may dictate how the data is stored and transferred. You should also consider SD card naming and transportation procedures for increased security awareness.
2. DATA TRANSFER POINTS
Data can typically be transferred up to three times during the capture and upload process. This can include SD card to computer, computer to the cloud and possible backups for transportation.
You should monitor their transfer points and follow security best practices to maintain a safe and secure transfer of your data.
3. USE TRUSTED SOFTWARE
You should always use high quality commercial software for the management of drone operations and data capture. Checking and ensuring security and regulatory compliance.
Trendspek is ISO27001 accredited for Information Security and we recommend that software certified to that standard should be used where possible.
4. UPLOADING YOUR DATA
Use a secure procedure to transfer your data. Trendspek recommends using secure cloud service to transfer your data.
We strongly suggest that USB or other manual transfers should be avoided where possible. Uploading directly to Trendspek’s portal is the most secure way to upload your data. Make sure you are connected to a secure network when performing this operation.
5. DATA SHREDDING
Once you have completed your data capture and a successful data upload to the cloud is confirmed, you should use an approved file shredding software to wipe the data from SD cards.
